Steve Large, PhD

As a Data Scientist for Viewpoint Investment Partners, Steve is involved in researching, developing, and quantitatively evaluating investment strategies. Coming from a technical background, Steve is highly motivated to rigorously apply mathematical, data-centric methodologies to the portfolio construction process, ultimately finding himself strongly aligned with the investment philosophies at Viewpoint.

Steve holds a PhD in Theoretical Physics from Simon Fraser University in B.C., where he made several contributions to the field of nonequilibrium physics and stochastic processes as they apply to biology at the micro- and nanometer scales. Having gained a wealth of experience in extracting information and distilling insights from noisy scientific data, he transitioned to the financial sector due to a strong interest in understanding the complexity and fluctuations inherent in financial markets.
